This Watermelon Strawberry Punch is a makeover of Hawaiian Punch. It gets its bright pink color naturally from the season’s freshest watermelon and strawberries versus the artificial colors found in factories.
When I was a kid, I remember one kind of Hawaiian Punch, and it was bright red. Today, there are 16 kinds out there—everything from Aloha Morning and Lemon Berry Squeeze to Green Berry Rush.
High fructose corn syrup tops the list of ingredients followed by a rainbow of artificial colors: Yellow 5, Blue 1, Red 40, and Yellow 6. No thank you!
When it comes to summertime thirst quenchers, I prefer beverages made simply with ingredients naturally found in nature.
I serve on ice to make this makeover extra refreshing for summer. You can also freeze the mixture into individual fruit pops.
Four simple ingredients is all you’ll need for our Hawaiian Punch makeover: Watermelon, strawberries, lime juice, and agave nectar.
I don’t know too many kids (or adults) who could resist this naturally nutritious drink 🙂

What is agave, is that oil or what is it and where can I found it in what store
Janice, Agave is like honey, but it’s made from the agave plant. It’s naturally sweet and has the consistency of maple syrup. The only ingredient in the agave you buy should be agave. Look for it in the baking section of your supermarket or near the honey.
this is brilliant! I’ve been reading so much about artificial dyes lately and love seeing healthy ways to avoid them!!
I can add Hawaiin Punch to the list of foods and drinks I had more than occasionally as a kid! This looks great – will have to try for my girls!
Just googled agave. Its a sweetener. Has higher fructose than corn syrup though
Joni, the agave on our shelves is from Madhava and the only ingredient is organic agave. Read labels and choose one without any additives.
love these images, liz!! they scream summer… )
Don’t worry about corn syrup or fructose … it’s high fructose corn syrup you need to avoid.
Loved it! So simple yet I needed this recipe!
Keep up the great work
Liz, fructose isn’t an additive or ingredient to agave syrup. The type of sugar that makes up agave syrup is fructose. The fact that is comes from agave doesn’t change its chemical makeup.
Agave being a sweetner is it safe for some one with Epilepsy?
You’d have to talk to your doctor or dietitian about the use of agave. I will tell you, however, that you can leave it out of the recipe, and the punch will still taste great. There is natural sugar in fruit as well. So again, please check in with your health care provider.
